The Ministries at St. Paul's

Within the Parish there are many opportunities to serve the Lord and the community. Servers at the altar (crucifers, acolytes, chalice bearers) and behind the scenes in the Altar Guild, arranging altar flowers, ushering, hosting coffee hour, working with others to make mattresses from plastic bags for children in the rural areas, and a variety of other ways.   St. Paul's choir offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to our worship services, under the professional tutelage of Xavier Hernåndez and Liliana Gutiérrez.

Several vestry committees also welcome members who have a particular interest or skill, including Christian Education, Newcomers, Community Outreach, Newsletter, Finance, Stewardship, Publicity, Long Range Planning and Legacy Stewardhip.

Among the many activities that go on at St. Paul's are our Quiet Days, pastoral care of members of St. Paul's and of the community at large, ecumenical and inter-faith worship services, the Christmas Eve Community Carol sing, community 'pot-luck' dinners and lecture series on a variety of topics.

The Parish Hall also serves as a year-round Art Gallery in this community of talented artists.  For a small fee, artists may show their work to be seen by parishioners and attendees of community events alike.

Beyond the church walls, St. Paul's is a proud sponsor, and the founding host for the Feed the Hungry serving thousands of children daily in San Miguel and the surrounding rural areas.

Centro Infantil San Pablo is a "Head Start"-type preschool established and sponsored by St. Paul's 'Head Start' for children in Colonia San Felipe Neri, a neighborhood in San Miguel.

A large medical supply closet is maintained at the church, including items like crutces, wheelchairs and other appliances which are loaned without cost to anyone needing them in San Miguel.

The parish library contains many religious, fiction and non-fiction books which are available for loan free of charge.

St. Paul's Parish Hall is a popular community center used by many charitable organizations. The Play Readers of San Miguel presents plays here every two weeks throughout most of the year. Various civic groups and charitable organizations also hold their board and membership meetings in the parish hall.
